A kitchen fire can begin in seconds, but the consequences can close a site for weeks or permanently. For a commercial kitchen, an insurer approved kitchen suppression system is not simply a piece of compliance equipment. It is a coordinated protection measure for the cooking line, extraction canopy, ductwork, people, premises and the ability to reopen after an incident.
Insurers will usually look beyond whether a system has been fitted. They want confidence that it is suitable for the risk, installed correctly, connected to the right equipment and maintained throughout its working life.
