Commercial kitchens are not all built or used in the same way, so there is no sensible one-size-fits-all answer. A quick-service site with high-volume frying has a different risk profile from a hotel kitchen, a school catering operation, or a restaurant with solid fuel appliances. How to choose kitchen suppression without guessing
The simplest way to approach the decision is to stop thinking in terms of buying a box and start thinking in terms of protecting a live cooking risk. The suppression system is only one part of that. The design, nozzle positioning, appliance coverage, fuel shut-off, alarm interface and maintenance regime all matter just as much as the cylinder and agent.

That matters for safety, but it also matters for downtime. A poorly integrated system can create confusion during an incident and slow the return to safe operation afterwards.
Installation needs to fit around trading reality
The best technical design can still become a poor project if installation disrupts service unnecessarily. Commercial kitchens rarely have generous downtime, especially in hospitality, contract catering and multi-site operations. Choosing the right suppression provider means looking at delivery as well as product.
Ask how the installation will be scheduled, what access is needed, and whether works can be carried out around trading hours. A specialist provider should be used to planning around live sites and coordinating with other contractors where needed. Longer warranty terms and structured maintenance support can be a sign that the provider expects the system to perform reliably over time rather than simply handing it over and walking away.
Price matters, but value matters more
Most buyers have a budget, and that is entirely reasonable. But if you are comparing quotations, make sure you are comparing like with like. A cheaper figure may exclude interfaces, commissioning elements, out-of-hours working, maintenance provisions or the level of design detail needed for your kitchen.
The stronger question is this: what are you actually getting for the price? If one proposal includes a properly surveyed design, compliant equipment, coordinated installation and long-term support, while another is little more than a basic supply figure, they are not equivalent options.
This is one of the clearest trade-offs in how to choose kitchen suppression. The cheapest route may reduce upfront spend, but it can increase operational risk and total cost later. Rework, failed inspections and poor support are expensive in ways that do not always appear on the first quote.
